What is the Hardrocker Flying Club?The HFC is a student organization of the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. Our goal is to help Tech students earn their pilot's license at a reduced cost. We are made up of Tech students, alumni, faculty & staff, and community members. The HFC welcomes 0 time pilots as well as experienced pilots. Tell me more...The part of the club that most people are interested in is our our airplane. We own a 1968 Cessna 177A. It is a four seat, 180 hp, fixed gear airplane that cruises at 130 knots. It is based at Rapid City Regional Airport in a private hangar. The airplane is available to HFC members, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Click here for more information about the airplane. A majority of the training that we do is for people who join the Club with little or no previous flying experience. However, we welcome licensed pilots and those who want to work on advanced ratings. |
